"According to AARP, 80% of graduating internal medicine residents did not feel competent to discuss or treat menopause. Only 20% of ob/gyn residencies offer menopause training, and half of all US ob/gyn residencies thought they needed more education on menopause medicine. Only 54% of women correctly define menopause. It is estimated that 85% of perimenopausal and menopausal women experience a wide array of symptoms that clinically impact quality of life. Sixty percent seek clinical help, but 75% of women subsequently go untreated."*
To make matters worse, even though every woman will eventually go through the menopause transition, the National Institute Of Health (NIH), which is the primary federal agency for conducting and supporting medical research, only spends $15 Million (10%) of its annual research funding on Menopause research.
We are committed to supporting women in taking charge of their health and wellbeing.
In order to do that, we need access to powerful, research-based resources so we can make informed choices and advocate for ourselves in a health care system that has largely ignored midlife women, especially when it comes to the menopause journey.
These are some of our favorites and we will continue to add as we find more. We also welcome your recommendations which you can send via email to info@cleamidlife.com.
